The Auckland place brand is the result of extensive research, with and on behalf of Auckland's residents, to understand see what differentiaties our region from the point of view of our residents, the rest of New Zealand, and the rest of the world.
The research revealed these four brand themes that capture the essence of our city:
- He wāhi whai mana | A place of mana – The world is used to seeing indigenous cultures in museums. Auckland’s modern Māori identity is unique and part of everyday life.
- He tōpūtanga ao | Collective worlds – One in three Aucklanders were born elsewhere and our different cultures are embraced with sincerity.
- He wāhi whakakaupapa | Playground for ideas – Auckland’s entrepreneurial spirit drives us to great things.
- He whakamarutanga ā-tāone | Urban oasis – Auckland is a thriving urban hub. It's New Zealand’s is largest city, set in spectacular natural surroundings.
By aligning our communication around these themes, we can attract the investment, workers, students and visitors that will help our region grow - and at the same time, enhance everything we love about Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
