Auckland is renowned for its manaakitanga (welcoming spirit). Part of this welcome includes ensuring we are all doing what we can to protect people in our region and in our venues.

With a highly vaccinated population and low case numbers, the New Zealand Government no longer has a strict Covid-19 protection framework in place. Rules have eased for travellers and for gatherings; however high-risk healthcare environments such as hospitals, medical centres, pharmacies and aged care facilities will still require visitors to wear a mask to protect the vulnerable.

New Zealand relies on a seven-day isolation period for Covid-infected people, and rapid antigen testing (RATs) for those who are household contacts or who may have been exposed to a sick person.

It is still highly recommended for people to wear a mask in confined spaces such as public transport. However, this is no longer a mandatory requirement. Some businesses or organisations may also continue to ask people to wear a mask on their premises.
