Daniel Clarke

Daniel joined TAU in July 2024 from his previous role as Head of Programming at the Canberra Theatre Centre.

He was excited by the potential of performing arts across Tāmaki Makaurau. In addition to presenting audiences with innovative, entertaining and original content in Auckland Live’s renowned venues, he is inspired to think about the city as a canvas, and how TAU can collaborate on a citywide vision for performing arts that connects with the region’s diverse communities.

Daniel has worked as an artistic director, creative producer, executive producer, director, curator and CEO across Australia and the UK. His work has had a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, developing and championing bold artistic voices, connecting audiences to new work, and the support of innovative creative practise.

His extensive experience in Australia’s arts sector includes being Festival Co-Creative Director of Sydney WorldPride 2023 which reached more than a million attendees and involved more than 6000 artists and arts workers. Before that, he had key roles at Arts Centre Melbourne, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Theatre Works and Adelaide’s Feast Festival.

Daniel has been awarded the Green Room Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cabaret (2020), Sidney Myer Facilitators Prize (2016), Ruby Award for Outstanding Community Impact for Feast Festival (2007) and Dame Ruby Litchfield Performing Arts Award (2002).
