Vincent Lipanovich

Vincent is an experienced not-for-profit/cultural sector executive, who has worked in the museum and heritage industry since 2006. 

He has been Director of the New Zealand Maritime Museum since 2015, overseeing major steps to secure the museum's long-term security and sustainability. Key achievements of his time include a major uplift in visitation to the museum, the resolution of several major infrastructure projects including a new entrance, and the first substantial gallery renewal project since 2008.

Vincent joined the museum from eight years at iconic Auckland War Memorial Museum, where he held a range of senior roles, most notably Head of Visitor Services and Protocol.

Vincent has been a trustee of the Contemporary Art Foundation (CAF) – the organisation which sits behind Te Tuhi, one of New Zealand’s foremost contemporary art spaces – since 2018.  He has been an Executive Council member of the International Congress of Maritime Museums since 2019, and has recently been appointed vice-president.

He has an MA (Hons) in history from the University of Auckland.
