Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland took centre stage in two episodes of the hit reality series The Bachelorette, with the newest Bachelorette, Jenn Tran. These episodes of “The Bachelorette” aired in the United States on Monday, July 29th and August 5th on ABC and are now available to stream on Hulu.
According to ABC, "Jenn Tran is a sweet and compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others and is currently studying to become a physician assistant. The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently resides in Miami and is ready to find love with a man who’s as reliable and thoughtful as she is. When she’s not studying, Tran loves reading, paddleboarding and traveling whenever she has the chance.”
Auckland is known as Tāmaki Makaurau in Māori, meaning ‘desired by many’, which seems only appropriate for this series, where several suitors compete to win the heart of the Bachelorette.
The two episodes showcased some of Auckland’s most picturesque locations and unique experiences, highlighting it as a must-visit destination. The Bachelorette and her suitors stayed at the central city hotel Grand Millennium Auckland and explored a range of activities, from sailing the beautiful waters of the Hauraki Gulf and visiting the vineyards of Waiheke Island, to experiencing the wild beauty of Great Barrier Island, and immersing themselves in Māori culture.
Viewers saw exciting moments unfold against the backdrop of Auckland's iconic skyline – from an adrenaline filled SkyJump off the Sky Tower, to a scenic flight with Heletranz Helicopters.
Jenn and her suitors also enjoyed the tranquil settings of Park Hyatt’s Waka Rooftop and Depot Eatery in the heart of the city, as well as the romantic Woodhouse Mountain Lodge just north of the Auckland region.
Tātaki Auckland Unlimited looks to support more visitors arriving from North America. "We're thrilled to showcase the diverse attractions and unique experiences Auckland has to offer," says Annie Dundas, Director of Destination at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. "We invite viewers to discover the magic of our city and be inspired to book a holiday for themselves."
The Bachelorette is a Warner Bros. Unscripted Television production in association with Warner Horizon. Bennett Graebner, Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, Tim Warner and Peter Gust serve as executive producers.
